Starbucks revealed the latest evolution of their brand mark. This is the first time Starbucks have not changed their logo since it floated on the NYSE in 1992.
The ‘Siren’ the twin-tailed mermaid has been the symbol of Starbucks since it’s launch in 1971. The removal of the word Coffee with new mark symbolises Starbuck’s intention to move beyond its core market.
CEO Howard Schultz gave the following description of the new brand mark.
“Throughout the last four decades, the Siren has been there through it all. And now, we’ve given her a small but meaningful update to ensure that the Starbucks brand continues to embrace our heritage in ways that are true to our core values and that also ensure we remain relevant and poised for future growth.”

Such a simple concept which highlights the realities of the world in which we live. One to consider when people are questioning our government’s commitment to oversea aid. The UK may be facing hard times, but we do need to keep things in perspective.
